– Bus trips are planned throughout the year for all interested.
– A fee is charged for each event to cover the vehicle, gas, and activity.
– Check the newsletter and bulletin board for when and where.
Fundraising Activities
Periodic fundraising meals are held at the Pierre Senior Center. Great food, great conversation, and reasonable prices guaranteed! We serve root beer floats at the summer city band concerts. A raffle with great prizes is held in the fall.
Special Holiday Potlucks
Special Holiday Potlucks are offered at Thanksgiving and Easter for members. Meat is provided by BankWest, potatoes are provided by the Center, and members bring salads. side dishes, or desserts.
Income Tax Assistance
IRS trained volunteers assist individuals needing help filing Federal Income Tax returns. This free service through AARP is available from early February through April 15. Starting in late January Call (605) 224-7730 to set up an appointment. (Donations welcome.)
Jigsaw Puzzles
Jigsaw puzzles are always in various stages of completion to be “worked” on by members and friends.
Pool Tables
Pool tables are always waiting for any one who would like to play with a friend.
Games
Cards are a popular activity. Duplicate Bridge group Monday & Friday, Canasta is played Wednesday afternoon, and Pinochle and Hand & Foot are played on Thursday after Potluck.
Exercise
Exercise is offered at no charge on Tuesday mornings September through May. Mindy Cheap, City of Pierre Recreation Director, leads Tai Chi or Chair Yoga alternately on Tuesdays at 10 am.
Funraising Activities
Activities such as a seasonal party or movie are offered for time together to enjoy snacks, visit, or play games such as Farkle, Dominoes, Scrabble, etc.
